The prognosis of lupus nephritis during treatment with superhigh-dose cyclophosphane

Retrospective analysis of the results of pulse cyclophosphane therapy was carried out in 34 lupus nephritis patients to answer the following questions: 1) when clinical and morphological characteristics are associated with positive (or negative) response to the therapy?; 2) is the morphological information from kidney biospy able to improve significantly the prediction of the results of the therapy?; 3) which combination of clinical and/or morphological characteristics makes it possible to obtain the best prognosis on the response of patients of this type of therapy? It was found that the results of kidney biopsy should play the crucial role when making decision on the prescription of pulse cyclophosphane therapy to patients with long-term lupus nephritis and/or increased level of creatinine.
