Toxicity of Fastac 10 EC, a pyrethroid insecticide, to Paramecium primaurelia and Tubifex sp

Fastac 10 EC (alpha-cypermethrin) was tested on P. primaurelia and Tubifex sp. The results showed that both tests are valid for the estimation of its toxicity. However, the Paramecium test was the more sensitive for investigating the direct toxicity of the compound. The Tubifex test is possibly better suited for tracing the teratogenic effects of pesticides.
