The effectiveness of parlodel, zinc sulfate and recombinant erythropoietin was compared in 38 men with uremic hypogonadism. Data are presented on the parameters of hematocrit, potence and spermatogenesis before and after treatment. In the treatment of impotence, parlodel exhibited the highest efficacy. It was found that recombinant erythropoietin did not affect significantly spermatogenesis and other parameters. Zinc and parlodel demonstrated comparable activity in the correction of principal symptoms of uremic hypogonadism. The effect of parlodel was more rapid than that of zinc, however zinc as a trace element, affects positively immune status, resistance and other physiologically significant parameters, which are vitally important for patients on hemodialysis.
