Agriculture in E. Nigeria is typified by small and scattered farm holdings, a mixture of individual and communal land ownership, low productivity, the predominance of subsistence production, and the exploitation of small oil palm groves to provide a cash crop. Economic development should begin with agricultural development. Five approaches are being considered in E.
