The longevity of the adults of Culex quinquefasciatus, Anopheles stephensi and Aedes aegypti was drastically reduced when they were exposed at larval and pupal stages to sublethal concentrations of hexaflumuron. When the 3 species were exposed to 0.05 mg/litre at the pupal stage, males and females of C. quinquefasciatus suffered a more shortened lifespan than other species. Among the females whose feeding activity was adversely affected by treatment at the pupal stage, A. aegypti showed the minimum survival duration with an LT50 of 2.74 days.
