The common sites of cancer observed in the Sindhi and Parsi communities are different from those in the general population. Sindhi males are more affected by cancers of the lung, tongue, esophagus, larynx and prostate, in that order, while in Parsi males the most vulnerable site for cancer is the prostate followed by the stomach, lung and large intestine. In the general population, the esophagus and larynx are the 2 leading cancer sites. In Sindhi females, the breast is the most common organ affected by cancer followed by the cervix, ovary and esophagus, while in Parsi females the leading sites are breast, ovary, uterus, cervix and large intestine. In the general population cervix, breast and esophagus are the most common sites. In the Sindhi and Parsi communities of India a fair amount of similarity is seen in the incidence of cancer at certain anatomical sites, such as the prostate, large intestine and leukemias in males and breast, cervix, ovary and uterus in females.
