The role of the paediatrician in nutrition assessment and counselling in ambulatory practise, the role of the registered dietitian as a nutrition consultant to the physician, examples of appropriate conditions in which employing a dietitian's service may be of benefit, common community nutrition resources and how to access them, and possible funding mechanisms for engaging dietetic services are discussed.
