The programmed therapy of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in adults

Two program (Russian RACOP-LAOP and a program developed by German authors) differing in the intensity of the 1st phase of remission induction in lymphoblastic leukemia patients were compared. Cytosar and cyclophosphane were ued to induce remission in the 1st phase, and L-asparaginase - in the 2nd phase. Protocols of the RACOP-LAOP and the German program were presented. No essential differences were found in the programs with respect to their final effectiveness (frequency of complete remission and calculated survival rate). Treatment according to the RACOP program is noticeably more toxic. However, the RACOP program makes it possible to achieve complete remissions in 75% of cases after the 1st phase of induction.
