A review of recent investigations concerning the effects of praziquantel on Schistosoma japonicum is presented under the headings: pharmacological effects; praziquantel-host immune response interactions; stage-specific effects; effect of praziquantel enantiomers; effect of praziquantel on cercariae, ova and miracidia of S. japonicum.
