Although causal relationship cannot be established, the association of chloroquin consumption in therapeutic doses and fainting on two successive occasions in a young healthy adult is definite. It is proposed that sudden cardiovascular collapse with chloroquin as reported in young children2 can occur in susceptible young healthy adult. Looking to the mass consumption of the drug the phenomenon is extremely rare. Any semblance to quinidine syncope is purely conjectural. No prolongation of QTc was observed.
