The French court held that, under Article L.122-25-2 of the Labour Code, the plaintiff teacher was unfairly dismissed from her job for the sole reason that she had become pregnant. It rejected the argument of the defendant that the fact that the parents of students had threatened to withdraw their children from the school because of the teacher's pregnancy constituted a valid reason for dismissal.
