The French court ruled that, in comparing the worth of the work of groups of men and women, the Court of Appeal had erred in not considering the variety of tasks performed and the length of training required, rather than just the difficult physical and psychological nature of the work. The case involved the claim of women employees of the defendant that they were paid less than certain male employees even though they were engaged in work of comparable worth. The Court of Appeal had accepted the claim after comparing only the difficult nature of the work.
