The Belgian court held that an employer's dismissal of an employee because the employee had become a mother was void. It ruled that the dismissal constituted discrimination on the basis of sex and was in violation of the public policy provisions of sections 118 and 127 of the Act of 4 August 1978 on economic reorientation. These sections deal with discrimination on the basis of marital status or family situation and discrimination in relation to dismissal.
