Blood insulin following oral glucose and L-phenylalanine administration in children with phenylketonuria

In children with phenylketonuria the levels of glucose, insulin and free fatty acids were determined in the serum after oral administration of glucose and phenylalanine. After 1-phenylalanine load no significant changes were observed in the levels of insulin, glucose and free fatty acids. The secretion of insulin in response to oral glucose in children with phenylketonuria seemed to be somewhat lower in relation to the control group.
