Acquired fistulae between the oesophagus and the tracheo-bronchial tree are comparatively rare, inspite of the intimate anatomic relationship between these structures. Most of the acquired communications result from carcinomas1. Acquired, non-malignant, oesophago-respiratory tract fistulae are much rare and fall primarily into infective or the traumatic group2. Eighty-four non-malignant, acquired, oesophago-respiratory tract communications were reported by 1954 and additional cases have appeared since then2. We present a patient with an acquired, non-malignant tracheo-oesophageal fistula of tuberculous origin.
