A study of China's models for first marriage and primiparity

Coale's 1st marriage model for the proportions of married people in a corresponding period is presented, and is followed by another improved version. The authors find Coale's original model too complex and indirect, and are concerned that some constants were empirically obtained. Using actual data to compare the 2 models, the improved version produced more precise results. The authors then distinguish between the time of 1st marriage and the commencement of regular sexual activity, analyze the time distribution of commencement of such activity in China, and provide a set of measurement methods from 1st marriage to primiparity.
