Socio-economic changes in two Polish villages of the Rzeszow region are discussed. One village is described as backward, whilst the other is urbanized to a high degree. Demographic structure in the two villages is outlined with the largest number of children and youth being concentrated in the urbanized village. Marked changes in the character of farming in the two villages are also noted. The more modern villages now have less small farms. A direct effect of urbanization has also been a decrease in the total farm population.
