A new project supported by the Path-finder Fund to serve migrant farmworkers has been developed in Adana Province, a populous, predominantly agricultural region in southern Turkey. The project's aim is to improve the health conditions of these workers in an area where living conditions and sanitation are very poor, and illnesses and diseases are prevalent. As part of the project, the Turkish Family Health and Planning Foundation is working closely with UNICEF to provide comprehensive maternal health and family planning services which are desperately needed in a community where some 80% of people want four or more children. The amazing success of the project, which surpassed the 12-month objectives during its first five months and generated awareness of the benefits of family health and planning services is highlighted.
