During the time of May 1989 until May 1990, 191 patients with clinically suspected meniscus lesions were sonographically examined. An arthroscopy was carried out on 49 patients, where this suspicion was found to be true. There was an accuracy of 78%. Through observations of wrong negative findings (22%), morphological changes were observed, of these, the real available sonographical findings were misinterpreted.
