The life, work and scientific activity of Ludwik Guranowski a known Warsaw Doctor were presented. The review of his scientific publications, practice, social and publishing activity was also described, specially in connection with the edition of "Polski Słownik Lekarski" by Stanisław Kośmiński. The personality traits of this appreciated man were also depicted.
