Mees' lines due to cyclosporin

Recently, Shelley and Bennet Humphrey described the case of a 7-year-old boy affected by acute lymphoblastic lymphoma, who developed Mees' lines caused by daunorubicin. Probably the drug interfered with the cornification process of the nail matrix. Similarly, in our patient, cyclosporin might have interfered with the anatomical integrity of the nail matrix. The coexistence of pitting and Mees' lines on the same nail plate is a unique observation of this epiphenomenon of renal dysfunction, secondary to an inappropriate administration of cyclosporin, never previously to our knowledge described in the literature.
