A discussion of the results of the open air and accelerated weathering tests for particleboard reported in Part 2 (FPA 4, 1355). It is shown that none of the tests gives a reliable indication of the moisture resistance and durability of the boards in service. Four test methods - two performance tests for determining mechanical and chemical stability and two tests for assessing hygroscopicity and creep behaviour - are considered suitable as a basis for indicating the behaviour of boards over a long period.
