Electroejaculation and artificial insemination in Vietnamese potbellied miniature pigs

The techniques are described. Electroejaculation was achieved by alternating 3-4 s of stimulation with 5-6 s of rest. Approximately 15 ml of semen with a concentration of 24 x 107 spermatozoa per ml and motility of >80% was obtained. The semen was extended in 45 ml of Kiev extender, and 30 ml of the diluted semen containing 1.8 billion spermatozoa was inseminated into a gilt. Nine live pigs resulted from the insemination.
