The authors have performed artificial insemination with donor sperm since the middle of 1984. As a result, in 1984 of 27 women 14 conceived, in 1985 of 57 patients 30 became pregnant, while till 10 October 1986 of 56 wives 33 conceived. The cycle of sterile women treated with artificial insemination was monitored. From the 10th day of the cycle the serum LH and oestradiol level were determined, the size of follicles was controlled by ultrasound and the parameters of the cervical mucus were measured daily. The LH level proved to be the highest during ovulation while the 17-.beta.-estradiol level was increasing parallel with the growth of follicles. It was established that in most induced cycles the growth of follicles could be followed well by ultrasound folliculometry. In cases monitored this way, artificial insemination was successful in 50-60%.
