Primary localization of 1,2-dimethylhydrazine-induced cancer in lymphoid patches of the large intestine

Treatment with 1,2-dimethylhydrazine was performed according to body surface. The occurrence of tumors in the area of lymphoid patches in the ascending and descending parts of the colon was 6.7 and 1.5 times that outside the site, respectively. Signet-ring cell and mucinous carcinomas made up 92% of tumors arising in lymphoid patches. Treatment with the carcinogen was associated with decrease in the labelling index in lymphoid elements of interfollicular (T-dependent) zones of lymphoid patches from 6.6 +/- 1.8 to 4.1 +/- 1.6%.
