Data from the title location do not indicate that the coal mines, coal separation utilities, a coal-fired power plant, and fly-ash pile had any detectable radiological impact on the aquatic system. However, the phosphate industry has enhanced the radioactivity of the small stream in which waste waters and sludges are released. The consequent contamination of the river Sava into which this stream flows is obvious, though it is much lower than in some cases known at other phosphate ore deposits and processing areas. Occasional surveys of the waters around the plant are advised, especially in cases when phosphate ore with supposedly higher Ra content is to be processed.
