Incontinence, even if it is only partial, always affects quality of life. The degree of suffering differs in the various age groups. The young child suffers mainly from localized painful lesions, the older child due to environmental factors. For adolescents, the range of professional and interpersonal options is greatly restricted. The task of the pediatric surgeon is to influence positively the quality of life by means of a carefully planned primary operation, appropriate corrective procedures and psychological supportive measures.
