Changes in the age-group structure and parity of women in the course of 15 years and comparison of the duration of labor-clinical material analysis

From 1954 to 1968 there were 29,188 deliveries at the II. Gynecologic-obstetrics Hospital in Bratislava. During separate 5-year periods a change came about in the age-group structure, chiefly in the parity. The most striking decrease is that of the frequency of women who delivered more than 2 children. Comparing the duration of deliveries in the years 1954 and 1968, there was a reduction from 16 hours 19 minutes to 11 hours 3 minutes in the case of primiparas and from 9 hours 45 minutes to 7 hours 12 minutes in the case of multiparas. The frequency of protracted labors decreased considerably.
