A review is given of the structure, synthesis, uses, history and development of 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T, together with details of the contaminant 2,3,7,8-TCDD (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin). The toxicological effects, including effects on reproduction, epidemiological data on cancer and other pathological effects caused by exposure to these herbicides are also reviewed.
