Cluster of childhood Guillain-Barré cases after an oral poliovaccine campaign

The incidence of Guillain-Barre cases in children in Finland between 1980 and 1986 was 3.9 per year for each year except 1985. In that year there were 10 cases and these were related in time and month to the administration of oral poliomyelitis vaccine. The vaccine may have increased the occurrence of Guillain-Barre cases without being the actual cause. More study is required.A.B. Christie.
