The study of land molluscs was curried out in 1995-1997 in four distant areas and within 6 forest biotope groups (forests with natural or forest management caused disturbances, forests of pioneer tree species, pine forests, spruce forests, wet deciduous forests and broad-leaved forests). Altogether 56 terrestrial mollusc species were found of which 12 species are red-listed in Latvia. Data were processed and analysed by classification (TWINSPAN) software. It reveals that all forest biotopes can be divided on 3 major groups: biotopes with rich mollusc fauna, with moderate richness and with poor fauna. Number of species that found in each forest biotope group varies from 19 to 46 species. That difference is determined by the richness of vegetation, humidity and forest management.
