This paper consists of a digest of the present (1990)state of the geochronology of the Precambrian in Kasai and West Shaba areas in Zaire (with mention to its extention through Angola) taking into consideration the data obtained since the general review published by Cahen et al. in 1984. Indeed, since then, new SmNd and RbSr age measurements on the basic granulites, metadolerites and Lulua basaltic rocks have modified and/or precised the previously supposed chronologic position of some Lower Proterozoic complexes in the Congo craton.
