A new quota policy that is being introduced in Denmark for a 5-year period from 1997/98 is outlined; it includes the creation of a quota exchange with an equilibrium price based on minimum prices requested by those wanting to sell and maximum prices offered by those wanting to buy quotas, the introduction of a deduction scheme for direct transfers, restrictions on the access to purchase on the quota exchange, and special rules for newly established farmers.
