Hair loss is described on the throat beneath the collar, on the thorax just caudal to the forelimbs and on the caudal thighs of a 12-month-old Curly-coated Retriever, that is in areas subject to abrasion. There were broken hairs within apparently normal anagen follicles; there was no evidence of pruritus. The dam and sire were similarly affected, with alopecia starting in the same areas and at about one year of age, and progressing to a total loss of coat which then regrew after about six months.
