The records of birth weight and gestational distribution from 4 delivery hospitals in Heilongjiang, Province, China, were studied over a 4-year-period (1995-98). Birth weight and gestational period distribution were different between delivery A (belonging to a university) and delivery D (belonging to a small community development). Delivery A has a high proportion of <2500 g birthweight in both male and female, and delivery D has a high proportion of >3500 g birthweight. Delivery D has less preterm (<37 weeks) babies and more postterm (>=42 weeks) babies. Using 2 kinds of adjusted mean birth weight and methods in terms of intra-uterine growth level and maturity level, there are differences among 4 deliveries when compared to the standard population.
