The effectiveness of ethacizine, neo-gilurytmal, disopyramide, ethmozine, novocainamide, and mexitil was compared in 97 patients with ventricular cardiac rhythm distrubances. The effect of the drugs was evaluated by 24-hour long ECG monitoring. Clinical and ECG parameters were compared in patients who were sensitive or resistant to the effect of antiarrhythmic preparations. Some complications of the antiarrhythmic therapy were described. The results of the study show that all Na-channel blockers being used stop arrhythmias caused by reentry or trigger activity more effectively, than arrhythmias caused by automatism disturbances.
