After a general review of the socioeconomic importance of child labour and of its effects, accounts are given of the employment of children in agriculture, industry and the informal sector in Egypt, Thailand, Colombia, India, Peru and Sri Lanka. Finally an account is given of ILO, UNICEF and the Anti-slavery Society research and activities on child labour.
