Carney's complex of primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease and pigmentous and myxomatous lesions

Three patients with Carney's complex who were managed at the University of Michigan Medical Center were presented. All had Cushing's syndrome secondary to primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical hyperplasia. Two had cutaneous myxomas, and one patient had an atrial myxoma. Two patients had blue nevi, and one patient had a concurrent testicular tumor. All patients fulfilled the criteria for diagnosis of Carney's complex by having at least two of these conditions: myxomatous masses, spotty pigmented lesions of the skin and endocrine disorders.sbd.mostly commonly, primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical hyperplasia. An awareness of the disease complex is important because two of the components, Cushing's syndrome and atrial myxoma, are life-threatening diseases. Because the disease components can occur metachronously, a close follow-up study of the patient is necessary.
