Socio-cultural analysis of the cases of reversal of female sterilisation: A retrospective study

As the number of female sterilization continues to grow, side by side the need for reversal of operation is also growing. This paper throws light on the socio-cultural, economic and other characteristics of people who seek reversal of the female sterilisation. Besides, the factors influencing the reversal of sterilisation have also been analysed. Findings revealed that the middle class urban couples were in preponderance in this series. While, loss of children due to high infant mortality rate, particularly, male ones, were the most important deciding factors behind reversal of the female sterilisation.
