The protective efficacy of dithiothreitol (DTT) is verified with its effect on triacylglycerol hydrolase (EC 3.1.1.3) of mouse adipose tissue. In the early and late initiation phases DTT could alleviate the lipolytic activity to a considerable extent. The effect of DTT is predominantly expressed in the maintenance phase by exhibiting normal lipolytic activity in acute renal failure model. These results confirm the detoxifying ability of DTT.
