The risk of complications is inherent in all invasive radiological procedures. Because of the significant number of both minor and major adverse effects associated with cerebral angiography, this procedure was chosen as an audit model to establish current information upon which clinical decisions and informed consent can be based. The results of this initial audit study, performed over a 7-month period in the Radiology Department of the Royal Brisbane Hospital, highlighted the difficulties in obtaining local data which have on-going relevance.
