German hunting law and European human rights convention: the compatability of the German hunting ground system with the European human rights and basic freedoms

The German and French legal hunting systems are outlined, and a case study is described in which 9 French civilians (all anti-hunting activists) claimed that their human rights were violated because of the inclusion of their lands in the hunting area of the communal hunting society. The European Court for Human Rights declared that this inclusion violated property rights, the freedom of joining societies, and discriminated against the freedom of speech, and between small and large landowners.
