Nutritional status of a group of 129 school children (59 boys) in Tehri Garhwal district, Uttar Pradesh, India was studied by 2 anthropometric methods (method 1 used body weight only and method 2 using height and body weight). The majority of children suffered from 1st or 2nd degree malnutrition. The first method showed that overall girls had a worse nutritional status than boys but the second method showed no particular trends. Family size did not have a negative impact on nutritional status.
