Finger joint contractures in children and adolescents with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus

Seventy-two children with juvenile diabetes mellitus were examined for the presence of finger joint contractures. Normal joint mobility was found in all of the children below 8.5 years of age. Out of 61 children over 8.5 years, 15 had limited finger joint mobility. Short stature was more frequently associated with limited finger joint mobility.
