Therapeutic application of a swimming pool and a sauna bath in I and II stage essential hypertension has a marked antihypertensive effect based on manifest peripheral vasodilatation and insignificantly increased myocardial pumping function. A combined vasodilation effect of a swimming pool and sauna in this condition does not differ from that produced by hypotensive agents.
