Pattern of gastric acidity and gastrin blood level in basic conditions and following the administration of food in subjects with ulcer-like and non ulcer-like dyspepsia

From the clinical point of view, two variants of functional dyspepsia can be identified: one resembling ulcer, the other not resembling ulcer. The lack of an organic substrate of dyspepsia has been shown by routine laboratory and instrumental investigations. In two well defined groups, BAO, PAO and basal blood gastrin curve were studied in both basal conditions and after basal stimulation. The results obtained show that in the two clinical variants of dyspepsia objective differences to gastric acid secretory factor and to gastrinemia after physiological stimulation cannot be demonstrated.
