Autoimmune thrombocytopenia after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation: a case report

In a 25-year-old man, autoimmune thrombocytopenia occurred following allogeneic bone marrow transplantation. There were no manifestations of a viral infection or graft versus host disease. The thrombocytopenia improved after giving high-dose intravenous .gamma.-globulin therapy and oral prednisolone. As the platelet associated IgG showed the same pattern as that of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, our findings suggest that the thrombocytopenia was due to an autoimmune mechanism.
