Bilateral exostosis of the 5th rib was observed in a 6-year-old cow slaughtered because of fluorosis. Micro radiographic analysis showed hyperostosis, signs of bone destruction and considerable subperiosteal and endosteal bone formation. It is concluded that fluorosis led not only to a spontaneous fracture of the rib but also to an exaggerated callus formation.
