The authors survey the primary causes which prompt the physician to decide for cesarean section during labor, when vaginal delivery would jeopardize maternal or fetal well-being. In this article they report data collected in 100 patients in whom biochemical and biophysical monitoring was a clear indication of fetal distress during labor.
