Effect of the form of the left ventricle and character of its blood supply on the development of myocardial hypertrophy was investigated in the course of a dynamic examination of 33 males with different degrees of involvement of the coronary arteries. The method of echocardiography in the M-regime and in the regime of sectoral scanning was used. It was found that moderate restriction of blood supply of the myocardium may become the factor stimulating its local hypertrophy. During acute disorders of the coronary blood flow the possibilities of development of hypertrophy are limited. It was found that the thickness of the left ventricle walls depend on the forms of its cavity effecting the values of intramyocardial tension.
